Thrilling come-from-behind win for Mizoram in T Ao tournament

Defending champions Mizoram scored a come-from-behind 4-3 victory against Sikkim while Manipur and Tripura played out a 1-1 draw in the T Ao football tournament at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Shillong on Tuesday.

Mizoram scored two goals in the last 10 minutes to carve a thrilling victory. Lal Bia Khula and Lal Nun Mawia scored the all-important goals for Mizoram in a game that Sikkim dominated.

Both goals came in the Tripura versus Manipur match came in the second half. After the break, Manipur pressed for the first goal and their efforts paid off when T. Raju’s long throw was headed home by Mohammed Sohail in the 62nd minute.

Tripura fought hard for the equalizer and in the 75th minute, a beautiful cross from the left flank saw Sukanta Jamatia volleying in to make it 1-1.

Manipur could have scored a last-gasp winner but had to settle for a draw, in spite of being the better team on the day.
